Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is an American politician, businessman, and media personality. A Republican, he served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021 and returned as the 47th president in 2025. Raised in Queens, New York City, he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He led the Trump Organization, expanding into skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses, and licensed the Trump name globally. From 2004 to 2015, he hosted the reality show The Apprentice. He ran for president in 2016, defeating Hillary Clinton and succeeding Barack Obama.
