
Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio was born in Middletown, Ohio, on August 2, 1984. He graduated from Middletown High School in 2003, earned a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Ohio State University in 2009, and received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 2013. Vance served in the United States Marine Corps from 2003 to 2007, participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a lawyer, venture capitalist, writer, lecturer, and founder of a non-profit organization. Elected as a Republican to the U.S. Senate in 2022, he served from January 3, 2023, until his resignation on January 10, 2025, to become Vice President. Vance was elected Vice President of the United States on the Republican ticket headed by Donald J. Trump in 2024.
