Representative Timothy J. Ryan of Ohio was born in Niles, Trumbull County, on July 16, 1973. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Warren, Ohio, in 1991, earned a B.S. from Bowling Green State University in 1995, and received his J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 2000. Ryan served as a staff member for U.S. Representative James A. Traficant, Jr., and was a member of the Ohio State Senate from 2000 to 2002. He was elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Eighth and nine succeeding Congresses, serving from January 3, 2003, to January 3, 2023. In 2022, he did not seek reelection to the One Hundred Eighteenth Congress but was an unsuccessful candidate for the United States Senate.
